What is a small change you can make which would have a big impact on you?
I was set this challenge a few years ago. The idea is not to set anything too onerous but to really search for something small that would benefit you.
I chose that when I get up to leave somewhere eg a bus, train, cafe, friends house etc I stop and consciously look back at where I have been sitting and check there isn’t anything left behind- coat umbrella handbag etc. The immediate benefit has been loosing things less, even though I wasn’t bad before. Another benefit has been I am calmer no panic - where is my xx? (usually in my hands then feeling stupid). I feel more confident and my self image in the moment is of a collected person. Also when I do lose things I think they must be at home somewhere, so less panic and more rational searching.
Another small change (induced by Covid and WHO) was washing my hands when I come into the house from the outside world eg after shopping etc. I noticed I get fewer colds.
With these small changes embedded into automatic behaviour and therefore not requiring mental effort I am taking on a new challenge. To drink more water, this I am finding harder. My block is I find it boring to drink- a cup of tea is more appealing. Anyway I try to help myself by having a glass first thing when I wake up, by having a glass at hand during the day and thinking about the benefits (no cracked lips, better digestion etc). Let’s see how this goes.
What small change would you make? How would it improve your life? Or what small change have you made already and what was the impact?
