I have mentioned before that I have in the past given a talk to groups about the story of my mental health journey.
I have not given a talk for quite a while as I live away from big towns. I have a talk coming up soon and was going through my notes.
I mentioned my 4 Hs that helped me - health, honesty, humour, and hope.
I like alliteration and having 4 Hs makes it easy to understand.
Health both physical and mental is so important because I find if my physical health is not so good my mental health suffers and vice versa.
Honesty, I spent so many years in denial that anything was wrong. Now I need to admit the pain I inflicted on others. I now am honest with my past and I can share my story, warts and all, with a room full of strangers.
Humour, this has helped me through dark times. As Joan Rivers used to say, if you can laugh at it you can live with it.
Hope is so important. Sometimes as we struggle it is hard to find hope but no matter how small your hope is it is there giving you strength.
I was wondering if anyone has something that helps them like 4 Hs, or 5 Cs
Confidence, choice, courage, challenges, compassion or something short and simple that helps them. You may have read it or made it up. If you are willing to share it, I would like to read it.
Maybe you find these aids unhelpful and can explain why.
I do not want to oversimplify a complex issue. I just want to share something that helps me.
