Would you share your stories about serendipitous experiences? Recently, we were torn between two good choices – to go to Wales for a granddaughter’s first birthday celebration or to London for the Moodscope meet-up. We went to Wales for many reasons but with the regret of missing the Moodscopers and Moodscope team.
But something happened that could be read as the Universe giving a bit of reassurance. We travelled to Wales on the Friday with a view to enjoying St Fagans National Museum of History. This is a wonderful open-air museum where they have relocated historic buildings from all over Wales so that they can be enjoyed forever. Access to the museum is free, so fundraising is important. Part of the fundraising is the sale of donated books.
One called to me from the shelves: “The Talking Revolution – How Creative Conversation Can Change The World.” In the Acknowledgements, the authors, Peter Osborn & Eddy Canfor-Dumas thank a certain ‘Adrian’ for his support. Wondering if this was our Adrian at Moodscope, I approached the authors and Adrian, and to my delight it IS him!
In terms of serendipity, what are the chances that a book with a thanks to Adrian would be on bookshelves raising funds for a Welsh museum? And what are the chances that of all the books I should be attracted to that one? I know humans seek meaning where it may not be, but I was thrilled and thought, “Spooky!” Oh, and it’s a good book, of course!
Finding meaning is really helpful for boosting our wellbeing, and experiences like this one can reassure us that perhaps we are not alone and someone is smiling on us. Thus, I thought it would be great today to hear your own stories of beneficial coincidences and how they made you feel.
