I am committing to write a blog every month as I traverse through the autumn and winter, here in the UK. I have shared previously how challenging I found the cold and dark of the winter months, and many of you were kind enough to share your thoughts on what I could keep in the box under my bed, to unpack when the going gets tough. At the last count, there were 23 suggestions. That says a great deal about the Moodscope Community. Firstly, there was a huge outpouring of understanding and kindness (but that is always the case from you wonderful folk). Secondly, some of the suggestions have been really radical. Making each month "my favourite month".
So here goes.
As I see the changes in the quality and strength of the light as well as the shortening of the days, so instead of grieving for what I believe I am losing, I learn to give a quiet thanks for the longer days I have enjoyed this summer. I also feel gratitude for the kindness of people who put their surplus fruit outside their gates. I appreciate the need for change in the seasons, such as when my heart fluttered wildly today as I saw a group of migrating geese, flying low over the road as I drove to work. Nature has her seasons and her reasons.
So this month I'm focusing on gratitude and change. What will you focus on?
I wish you all a peaceful September.
