Is it helpful, a distraction or overwhelming at times?
I wonder if people tell you that you overthink everything. Or a friend or family member does overthink.
If someone tells me not to overthink, I worry and think more about how things are so complicated. I never sleep well and people have said this is due to thinking too much and not relaxing. I like to see overthinking as a positive thing - that I think about a range of topics. I do not feel anxious or worried.
Most advice to stop overthinking or lessen it involves the usual psychological techniques, meditation, reflection, mindfulness, healthy distractions, and even professional help.
I wonder if any Moodscopers see a positive side to overthinking, like I do.
I would like a discussion about how you feel about overthinking. What does overthinking mean to you? Is it a positive or a negative behaviour? Do you get pressure from family or friends to stop overthinking? Does overthinking help you and if so, how? My friend describes overthinking as not having space in her mind for important things. Do you agree?
I find it hard to change a lifetime of overthinking. I am interested in your thoughts, suggestions and opinions.
