Inspirations

I am sitting staring at my blank screen wondering what I will write about. I have discarded a few potential topics. Just within arms reach I spot a small red hard covered book entitled ‘Inspiration for writers’. I do not see myself as a writer, but I do need inspiration.

I am going to choose a few quotations which appeal to me. To me they are about life, not just writing. I hope one or more encourage you to reply. I will give a short response to the quotation.

“The more important virtue for a writer I believe is self-forgiveness.” Elizabeth Gilbert

Self-forgiveness is something I find harder than forgiving others. I am not sure why I am so hard on myself yet ready to forgive others. There is something I did many decades ago I can forgive myself for, I have tried but my action upset others.

I wonder if you can practice self-forgiveness and what you did to achieve it. Or are you like me and find it extremely hard?

“If you can’t annoy somebody with what you write, I think there is little point in writing.” Kingsley Amis

I wonder if the author is writing tongue in cheek or is saying that writing should provoke a reaction and often it may annoy others or will provoke them to disagree?

What do you think ? Is writing about annoying the reader or provoking a response?

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use the more you have.” Maya Angelou

I would like to believe this but sometimes I feel I have used up my bucket of creativity and can’t replenish it.

How do you use your creativity to make sure you have more?

I hope one or more of the quotations will inspire you to think and reply.
