At school and in adult life, the Harvest Festival has always been a favourite. For some reason, a tin of mandarin orange segments and a giant marrow that only a tribe could eat come to mind. Tins and fruit, fruit and tins - a veritable cornucopia!
As a household, we’re not farmers or ‘growers’ yet, but even we enjoyed an abundance of courgettes and delicious beans. We’ve had other types of harvest, however, and I thought today would be a great opportunity for you and me to celebrate the harvests of this year together.
What has borne fruit for you this year?
Have you made new friends?
Have you visited new places?
Have you read new books?
Have you taken up a new career, job, or position volunteering?
Have you a new member of the family, human or pet?
How about a new hobby?
Have you discovered new insights?
Have you developed a new passion?
Or have you taken comfort in the reassurance of tried and trusted harvests?
Have you strengthened your relationships with existing friends?
Have you returned to a familiar book?
Have you revisited a TV series or films you’ve enjoyed in the past?
Have you been back to locations you have loved?
Have you built upon earlier foundations of learning?
Our Book Club has been a fruitful source of introducing me to new authors, genres, and potential friends. Going back to Dr Who and Star Trek ‘Deep Space Nine’ and ‘Voyager’ (30 years old!) has tickled me with some truly terrible plots and some outstanding episodes that have stood the test of time. And, of course, I do like learning about what makes us tick, so there’s been a good mix of revisiting Motivational Mapping and TetraMapping and Mind Mapping (can you see a theme here?) and exploring new developments in neuroscience.
However, the joy of Moodscope is that it is not about me but about us, and I’m keen to hear about the ‘fruit’ or Harvests that come to mind for you and yours this year.
Let’s celebrate!
